Open and shut eyes!

I have been asked to make reborns for the rest homes here in NZ, but the lady said could they be made with eyes that open and shut so the dementia patients see the baby sleeps and can be awake?

I explained they are either asleep or awake, she said its important they can do both.

Could they be fitted into the eyes sockets?

I will research but wondered if anyone knew if this can be done.

Not unless you use and older style doll, I have never heard of a nursing home wanting this. let us know how you go

The reason she gave me was that the patients get upset if the baby is awake and doesn't appear to sleep. I said just take the baby from them and say the baby needs to go to bed, bring the baby back later Smile She said yes we have done that, but would prefer the eyes to open and shut! Odd!

Yes....the awake ones...they take and then tell the patient they are putting the baby to bed.....I have always made awake ones.....b/c they DO get upset when the sleeping ones won't "wake up"...it makes them think they are dead!

Good point, not sure why they are not happy with an awake baby!

these eyes can sleep and I have a doll where I changed the eyes from these to only open . the inside of the dolls head need to have room for a full eye( not the half round)

hope this helps Smile

Buy a "doll" from a toy store and then just enhance the paint with air dry and weight the baby with a cloth body for the patients.
