Finally finished my Molly Marie
I used Suri Alpaca (from Italy) and I like it better than mohair.

RE: Finally finished my Molly Marie
Thank you Beth, Kate and Shelly. If you ordered from (angisve74) Shelly you will not be disappointed, I am not good at hair rooting, so someone that is good will make it look amazing!!

RE: Finally finished my Molly Marie
She is just darling!!!

I have some suri alpaca hair and I found it extremely hard to root with a fine needle...it breaks SO easily...I rooted and rooted...and the hair would just come right off the head when you rubbed your finger over it......

Did you use a larger needle? Or one with more than one barb? Please let me know....as I LOVE the feel and look of it and would LOVE to be able to use the rest of what I have!!!!

I used a 46G one barb needle....it was a nightmare :+(

RE: Finally finished my Molly Marie
Thanks everyone. Cherie I used 42g crown needle until I broke it then changed to 43g 1 x barb and didn't find it any harder to root than mohair. I also love that Suri Alpaca is natural colours (no dye) as I used expensive Angora Mohtique dark brown mohair on my Cozy and when I conditioned her hair to style it the mohair bled and stained the vinyl on the dolls face, ears and neck and I couldn't get the stains out, not even with acne cream.

RE: Finally finished my Molly Marie
Oh yay that's the same place I bought mine from! I also like that the colour is natural, I only hope it's a nice shade of brown, without too much yellow or red in it. Can't wait to try it out, thanks for the tips Smile
