shaken baby case
oh i have news. hubby wants to borrow a baby for a case his gonna work (when he gets to it... this could take a few months)
he asked me yesturday could he borrow one of my dolls. he said he can only borrow it if seficiantally floppy, i explained i can adjust how floppy bub is based on how much stuffing he/she has and showed him i weight the head and how it flops.
he then asked if the head is hollow i said well its stuffed now, but yes that can be removed. he said hayden didnt weigh enough but we could put some lead in him... i explained about live vs dead weight and how a reborn feels heavier due to no living weight.
his not sure that you can get dummies that are baby sized.. hence wanting to borrow the doll, but his not 100% sure their bio medcially correct enough to get a true reading for such an important case.
basically he asked can we put an excellaromator ( a machine/computer that measure excelloration and de excelloration) in his head. i said yeah but ill have to charge you for the ties lol.
i am excited that hayden may get used like this. his only my 2nd reborn but he looks ok.. his pics are on the pics thread.
ill just keep a hat on his nappy stringy hair lol.

RE: shaken baby case
wow Cindy that would be fabulous if your baby can help. I don't know how true to life the reading would be though if the head isn't weight unless the machine he puts in it weight roughly the same amount as a baby head?
good luck to him with it hope it is able to help
hugs gayle

RE: shaken baby case
Now that is really interesting Cindy and fantastic to know.
I think you should email me if you would like to do so with some more details and I can do a write up on you at the Baby Maker site.
I would also like to do write up's on members who post on a regular basis so anyone who would like to send me their information or what they would like to share about them selves and reborning even photos of yourself etc are great then I shall dedicate a section to you all.
I am happy to list your logos and links as a thank you for your membership at the baby banter forum and all the wonderful posts you do. This forum is friendly helpful and growing so lets allow people to see some of your work and hear about you.
This is open to posting members so think about it and anyone who is interested or who thinks it could be fun then let me know and it is free which makes it even better.
cheers and dolly hugs

RE: shaken baby case
gayle yes the machine would weight the head and we can add lead as a short term measure to make sure the head is adequately heavy. we just need to work out if the baby will adequately represent a real baby infant. i dont know that i would get lots of orders as its not a techincal thing. but it sure is interesting. hubby actually showed my doll pics (the online ones) to a cop and he thought they were cute lol.
its more about making sure that when hayden is shaken it replicates how it would happen to a baby. then they can measure the force with the machine. it could take months to happen so i will keep you up to date. i will also work out stuff to put on your site andi.
