Prayer Request For My Father
Ken is not my biological dad, just my mom's third husband. Although this makes him of no technical relation to me, he's still the only man I'll ever call my dad. He loves me and treats me as his own. He came into my life when I was 16 years old and has loved me ever since.

Dad just turned 62 years old two months ago, so he's still fairly young. However, his health is deteriorating fast. He's diabetic, has heart problems and now his body has stopped producing new blood. He has to have blood transfusions every week. He's not longer abe to care for himself. When he is released from the hospital in a few days, he'll be moved to a live in care facility.

RE: Prayer Request For My Father
My dad's been through more health issues: a blood disease, pneumonia, difficulty talking and breathing and the inability to control his bathroom functions. Today's newest update is that he'll no longer be given blood transfusions as they are just prolonging the inevitable. Dad will NOT be returning home again. Most people with his blood disease have a 2 year life expectancy, but it's hit him all within the past 5 months. His blood disease is terminal, so now he's just being made as comfortable as possible. He now wears a hospital bracelet that reads "do not resuscitate." I'm expecting it to be only a matter of days until we get that dreaded telephone call...I just hope that it's not on my birthday on Monday.

I did get the one thing that I wanted most for Christmas: one last chance to talk to my dad on the phone.
