New to reborns and so excited!
Hi to all. I've been waitin g for my confirmation emails for a while now, and I finally worked out how to resend it to myself and get on board! Phew. lol. I'm so excited because I'm starting a reborn class on Tuesday next week and even though I've had no experience with this art form I'm just itching to get started! I don't have any preconceived ideas at this stage, I just can't wait to reborn my Secrist Sassy kit into a beautiful little baby to hold. Hopefully it won't be too difficult. If any of you have any bits of advice you can give me I would really appreciate it as I'm so excited I can't stop shaking. lol. I've enjoyed looking at all of your babies ladies, you're all very clever and I hope I'll have the same success with reborning. I'll be dreaming about this angel to be up until Tuesday. Cheers, Papillon. Papillon |

RE: New to reborns and so excited!
Hi Papillion and welcome to Baby banter, it is lovely to have you here as a member especially seeing as you are about to create your first bub. It is all very exciting isn't it and the good news is every bub you do is more exciting than the last as you are able to see the improvements with each one you finish. You have picked a lovely doll for your first and I personally cant wait to see the end result and hear how you went at your course.
Most people who do the classes feel they leave with a great deal of in site and skills and I am sure you will also love it. There is possibly not a lot we can offer as far as suggestions at this point because you are about to do a course however when you get home and start your next baby I am sure we will be able to assist you with any questions you have and you are more than welcome to ask as it is always a pleasure to help those entering the wonderful world of reborn dolls and as surprising as it may seem even those of us who have been making these babies for years still have people giving us new ideas plus there is so much more out there now for the artist, so sharing keeps us up to date. We also get to talk about new tools, new books paints and suppliers and what we feel works and what doesn't. Again welcome aboard and good luck for Tuesday if we don't hear from you before then. cheers and dolly hugs Andama DujonReborn Dolls Australia |

RE: New to reborns and so excited!
Thanks ladies,
I live in Victoria so am limited in where I go to do a class. Luckily Sue's Angel's in Training is only a 10 min drive form my house. I haven't been able to find anyone else to teach me this art form in Victoria, but have met with Sue and she's lovley. I'm hoping to get a good stepping stone from Sue and she's mentioned that she's always trying new things that she's learning from the internet. I won't be able to help myself in terms of researching either. I saw somewhere on the net that a lady was painting hair and then micro rooting over the top. It looked very life like and stopped that matted look that I've seen on some dolls. Does anyone know about this? Sounds like a challenge doing it that way but the results are amazing. Only two more sleeps until I enter the wonderful world of reborning. I plan to take photo's of each step so I have a step by step record of my first baby. Thanks to all for the warm welcome. Do any of you know Sue btw? xxx's & ooo's Papillon. Papillon |

Papillon
I have to say I love your enthusiasim (sp?) yes I have seen the paints an micro rooted combination it it can look absolutly fantastic, painted hair is alittle challangeing to get just right but when done well it is gorgoeous! Sues nursery sounds familiar but I don't think I have ever talked to her and its very unlikely i would have met her as i am in nsw hehehe ahh you are so lucky to have a reborner so close by its going to be fabulous for you ! can't wait to see piccys ![]() hugs gayle http://www.ordinarymiraclesrebornnursery.com |

RE: New to reborns and so excited!
Thanks gayle, yes I'm lucky to have a reborn artist so close. When I contacted her she invited me around for a cuppa and a cuddle as I'd never held a reborn. My mum has made many porcelain dolls and believe it or not I've never held one of hers either! So my enthusiasm I guess is based on the forbidden fruit, you can look but don't touch. That's the thing I love about reborns, you can cuddle them!
I have 5 children 4 of which are at school, my youngest is 3yrs old. I also have four step children, yes that's 9 every second weekend. So, it's time to do something for me and get excited about it. Also, I don't want to have any more children, wonder why, lol, so doing reborns will keep the cluckiness at bay without the bubs ever growing up! Sue's nursery is Sue's Angels in Training. Kinda cute name. Only two more sleeps until the big day! (I was a little excited and didn't count my sleeps properly the first time, ooops!) Thanks to everyone for the big welcome and answering my questions, Papillon. Papillon |

RE: New to reborns and so excited!
Warm welcome Papillion, Tee is right the ladies here are so helpful and encouraging. My only suggestion at this point would be to take a look at Gayles rooting tutorial it is wondeful and even though you will have a teacher this one helped me an awful lot. Gayle spelled it out in alymens terms and her pics were very helpful.
