Hi i posted a thread before about my clay babies and got very useful information. I am now going to start reborning (i have just turned 13) is 13 too young? I was also wondering if the secrist beginner's 6" doll starter kit was any good? I was going to buy this kit has anyone used it? If you have photos of the finished doll please post.

RE: New to reborning help don't know what to buy?!
Hi Amy
13 is not too young to start in fact we have another member here who is also about your age. You just might need a little help with the heat setting using the oven or a heat gun. I haven't seen the actual secrist starter kits but almost bought one when i started. I ended up buying one with one of the bountiful baby triplets in it. But there was a lot of stuff in there i didn't really need or was poor quality. The 6" kit is very basic and even then next one up doesn't give you a great deal but it might be a good starting point without spending too much money. It doesn't say anything about hair but you will need some felting needles, mohair and possibly a needle holder but some people don't use them. It says it includes stuffing but with a bigger baby you will want glass beads or poly pellets or a combination of both for weighting the limbs and body. If I get a bit of time i will put together a list of basics unless someone else beats me to it. Hope this helps for now Nikki ![]() http://www.madewithloverebornnursery.com |

RE: New to reborning help don't know what to buy?!
Hi, I put a list of items you need for reborn doll making on one of my websites. Here is a link to it, maybe it will be of some help to you, you don't need all the items to start out with but you will need some paints and a way to get the mohair done unless you are going to try painted or drawn hair. You can also find a few tips and such there and links to several of the free reborning videos on youtube.
