New, not an artist.

Hello. I became interested in reborns after I saw a documentary on BBC about them. I don't have any of my own. But since this is a forum mainly for artists I was wondering if anyone knew of a forum for collectors. I was also wondering if someone gave you a photo could you replicate that baby?

RE: New, not an artist.

Hi Angel Momma
welcome to baby banter. Most forums are for both artists and collectors it helps to bridge the gap so to speak and lets us know what collectors are looking for and helps to put collectors directly intouch with the artists.
Yes babies can be made to look similar to photos of babies, but most not exactly the same but i have seen some done pretty close to extact I guess it all depends on the availabilty of sculpts that look like your little one.
Its great to have you here
hugs Gayle

Hi Angle Momma,

Welcome to Baby Banter.
I dont know of any foums just for collectors of reborn dolls, I am pretty sure they for collectors of all and every kind of doll. We have a few members here who are not artist so you are more than welcome to be a member here. I gather you collect different kinds of dolls, so what kind do you like. You can always load some photos of your dolls as we are always interested and we have a craft section as well if you are into anything home made. I personally love all that stuff.

Cheers

RE: New, not an artist.

I don't collect other dolls. My husband finds it all a little creepy and emotionally disturbing. 2 years ago I was pregnant with twins. They came too early and we lost them. I am looking at getting dolls that look like them. I know it sounds wierd, but I feel it is something I need to do. However, my husband thinks it's morbid. Maybe it is. I don't know. I am interested in them, I love looking at the photos of the dolls.

Sorry to hear about your loss Angel Momma,

There is little one can say, I know what it was like for people when I lost my husband.
People get these dolls made and buy them for many different reasons including yours.
Have you had a look on ebay at the reborns there as there are many many artists all with different skills when it comes to this art form.

Cheers

RE: New, not an artist.

Angel momma

its not mobird in the least.

if it helps you with your healing and its something u want or need to do, i say go for it . i am a new reborn artist... and i have already been asked by an online friend to replicate her baby that died of sids. i have asked her for time to get better at this art so i can do her justice.

look at the reasons why you want the dolls that look like your lost children. sometimes grieving people make bad choices and do things that make their greiveing harder, ( i am not saying this is you).

i know in the olden days when children died it was not uncommon for the parents to have portraits painted of what the children might of looked like if they had survived, i dont see how your wish for babies resembling your angels is really any different or wrong for any reason.

i am deeply sorry for you loss. i would be happy to reborn for you (when i get better) at cost price, your babies for you. if you cant wait i am sure that there are atrists both here and on ebay who would be happy to do this for you.

i wish you the best of luck.
