RE: Car booty:)
I have actually found the aus and uk sellers to be similar in price once you convert the money its just the postage is dearer as its coming from overseas. Brig there are 4 main sellers over here and a few smaller ones and it does pay to shop around abit Smile
I think NZ is pretty expensive unless the kits are on sale but i haven't really looked over there much.
My friends have told me the UK customs are pretty stickt with the duties and import fees so that must really suck.
I have purchased and recived alot of items from the us and not beed hit with any taxes for it yet *fingers crossed* but i have noticed some sellers in the us are more than happy to mark the price as less than you paid even if you haven't asked them to. but there are some who just won't do it and get cranky if you ask lol.

Hi Gayle it's a pain in the bum what the customs do.
That's quite good them marking the prices downSmile
So do you not get charged import taxes in Australia when you buy the dolls from America? Or are you just luckySmile

RE: Car booty:)
if the cost of the item you are importing is less than $250 australian dollars then you won't get charged anything which i don't think i have ever spent that much at one time but i have had things sent to me valued at more than that and customs have opened it resealed it and sent it on with out charging so either they over looked the price or were to lazy the write out the bill hehehe i consider myself pretty lucky though.
i think if you import more than $5000 in a year cumulative you can also be taxed but don't quote me on that Smile

RE: Car booty:)
I buy a lot from Germany and the US and never get charged tax but like OM (Gayle) I seldom order anything over $250.00.

cheers

aussie customs dont charge alot of taxes.. the only time they charge is if they think your importing qualities to sell.

like if you imported 50 of the same kit. i have ordered over 500 dollars worth of doll kits and never ever been hit with any fees.

also they look at the value and charge gst on any single products over 1000 dollars.

i have had heaps of kits sent from overseas and none opened.

but my friends parcels get openned all the time lol... i tell her its the canned food.. makes it look like shes bomb building or something.
